April 2023 Missions Highlight

Homelessness is a pervasive issue in many cities around the world, and it affects millions of people every day. In California, for example, homelessness has reached crisis levels, with thousands of people living on the streets. As a response to this problem, many organizations, and individuals have come together to provide support and assistance to those in need. One such organization is the Redwood Gospel Mission, which provides shelter, food, and other services to the homeless population in Sonoma County.

In this article, we will highlight our involvement with the Redwood Gospel Mission, specifically our partnership in providing a shower trailer and shelter for the homeless in our community.

The Shower Trailer:

On our campus, we have partnered with the Redwood Gospel Mission to provide a shower trailer every Wednesday. This trailer is equipped with private shower stalls, sinks, and restrooms, providing a safe and clean environment for the homeless to take a shower and freshen up.

This service is essential because many homeless individuals do not have access to basic hygiene facilities, which can lead to health issues and further marginalization. Providing showers not only improves their physical health, but also restores their dignity and self-worth, making them feel like they are a part of the community.

The Nomadic Shelter Program:

In addition to providing showers, we also participate in the Redwood Gospel Mission’s Nomadic Shelter program. This program involves housing the homeless one time each month during the colder months.

The Nomadic Shelter program provides a safe and warm place for homeless individuals to stay during the night. Our involvement in this program has allowed us to provide a space for those in need and help them get off the streets, even if it’s just for one night.

Partnering with the Redwood Gospel Mission:

Our partnership with the Redwood Gospel Mission is an essential part of our mission to help the homeless in our community. We recognize that the issue of homelessness is complex and requires a multifaceted approach. By partnering with the Redwood Gospel Mission, we are contributing to the larger effort of addressing this issue and providing services that improve the lives of those in need.
